Sarah Rice is a documentary photographer based in Detroit, Michigan. She’s lived and worked in five states, two countries, on both coasts, and now calls her first state home again. Sarah is particularly interested in long-term documentary projects that explore the ties that bind human beings to each other, to a place, or to the land. Much of her work explores community — both the existence of and lack of it, the lengths some will go to create it, and the ways others are isolated from it. She focuses on moments that offer the viewer a brief experience of the atmosphere and emotional tones of those spaces.
